HANDBOOK -- Table Of Contents
We believe that all children are a gift from
God and that they should be given the opportunity to develop to their fullest
potential. We believe that the pre-school years are critical in the
development of a child. We hope we can provide a secure place for
each child to have successes, to stretch an interest and joy in learning
and to learn to be responsible.
As a Christian pre-school we will incorporate into
our teaching basic Christian principles, and a stressing of the Golden
Rule of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. We
firmly believe that we should do as the Bible says in Proverbs 22:6. .

ENROLLMENT AND GENERAL INFORMATION
Center Chapel Pre-School is located in Center Chapel United Methodist Church. We are at 900 W. Royerton Road (500N) between State Road 3 and Wheeling Ave. on the north side of Muncie. The phone number to reach us at pre-school is 765-288-9490 Ext. 105. Please direct voice mails to the extension number.
Age deadlines are governed by the dates set by the state of Indiana. August 1st is the school age deadline. A child enrolled in the Pre-Kindergarten class must be 4 by Aug. 1st in the year they attend Pre-School. A child enrolled in the Wee Ones class must be 3 by August 1st in the year they attend school. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the pre-school board.
There is a one month adjustment period. Therefore all children attending Center Chapel Pre-School are on a trial basis until determination is made that the program is fitting the needs of the child as well as their ability to function in the school program. If problems arise, parents will meet with the teachers to decide what is best for your child.
The Wee Ones Class will meet on Tues. and Thurs. from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. .
The Pre-K Classes will meet Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 9:00 - 11:00 or 12:15 - 2:15 . The P.M.-2 Pre-K class meets on Tues. and Thurs. from 12:00 - 2:30. Children must be 5 by Dec. 31, 2008 to enroll in this class. Enrollment for each class shall be limited and classes are filled on a first come first served basis.
Illness Policy - If your child is ill or has a fever, we ask that you keep your child home during that period of time. Please let the church office know if your child will be absent from school.
School will operate under the same schedule
as the Delaware Community School Corporation except for opening and closing
dates. Please listen to the radio about school closings during inclement
weather. If Delaware Community Schools are closed, so is CCPS.
If there is a 1 hour delay, normal A.M. class. If
there is a 2 hr. delay,
we will not have any morning classes,
but will have afternoon sessions. Closings may also occur at the discretion
of the director. Anytime there is bad weather (rain, snow, extreme
cold), the lights under the carport will be on so please pick up or drop
off your child there.

We hope to teach the children self-control, respect and courtesy. Should we have a situation that requires discipline, our policy is that we incorporate a “Time Out”. Simply stated, the child is set on a chair for a few minutes, giving them time to reflect on their actions.
Children should be dropped off at the north side of the building no sooner than 8:55 A.M./12:10PM and picked up by 11:00 A.M./2:15 P.M. for the M-W-F classes and no sooner than 11:55 P.M. to be picked up at 2:30 P.M. for the Pre-K PM-2 afternoon session. For the Wee Ones class, those times are 8:55 for drop off and 11:00 for pick up.
Children should be dressed comfortably. We do learn to use scissors, paint and glue. It is important for your child to learn independence so please dress them in clothes they can handle for restroom breaks, moving and playing. Play clothes and sneakers are appropriate. Please mark jackets, coats and hats with their names.
We will have “Sharing” each month as designated on the monthly calendar. Please send your child’s “sharing” in a bag with his/her name on it so the sharing will be a surprise. They love to bring their favorite toys, things they have made. Please take a moment to coach him on what he can tell us about his sharing. No weapon toys, please.
We have 4 parties during the year. Noah’s Ark (at the end of Oct.), Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. Our biblical theme for Oct. Is Noah’s Ark. Therefore, the children make animal masks and are asked to wear them as costumes for our party. We do send home a note to inform parents on which animal their child has chosen for their mask. This way the parents can help decide what clothes the child can wear to the party. It is not necessary for adults to attend the parties, but we do ask that you could send in the items that you are responsible for. I have a class mom for each class and they will be calling you when we need things. It’s the children who benefit from your generosity.
We also celebrate birthdays and you may send in a
treat if you so desire. I have a birthday calendar on the pre-school
bulletin board for you to indicate on which day you would like to send
something in. It is important to mark this birthday calendar so that
the teacher is aware of the date you are bringing in treats. (Please,
no cupcakes.)
