| I don’t know where the summer went, but here we
are to school once again! Hope you had a nice summer! Thank
you for coming to school the first day with your child. It
always helps with the transition! Please check your child’s school
bag each day for notes and use it for sharing! The children will
be so proud of them! There are some general things that I would like
to remind you about. Be sure to label sweaters, jackets and backpacks
with your child’s name. Please remind your child to go to the restroom
before they leave home to save time in class. We ask that no toys
come to school except ones for sharing or ones that have some special significance.
Attached is our first book order for the year! Reading is one of the most important tools in your child's education--it's much more beneficial than any amount of TV watching. Don't feel obligated, but the majority of our books for our "book bags" came from our free books we got from previous years’ orders. Please return the orders to me by Sept. 11th or 12th. Don’t forget about our “Roaming Library Card” too! Ask a teacher about it! As you can see, we have many things planned already for this month. At the beginning of next month, we will have school pictures taken. The packages range from $7.00 to $20.00 and you may bring siblings to have their pictures taken also. Payment is taken the day of the picture and the pictures are usually back in about 3 weeks. More information on this will be forthcoming. We will be selling the Home Interior items for our fund raising this year. We will be sending those forms home in Oct. also—be thinking about Christmas! The orders will be in the first week of Nov. Remember that not only does our fund raiser support our “Special Needs Fund” for our families, but it allows us to do fun things at school! Our loft and letter carpet are just two of the things we have gotten. Thank you for helping your child’s school! WEE ONES NEWS We will spend the month learning the routines of pre-school and making new friends. I'm sure we will have lots of fun this year! We will talk this month about bugs, their habits and what they look like, up close. Have fun catching some "specimens" for your child to bring in and share! Some of my very favorite books for this lesson are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. Each week we talk about a new letter of the alphabet and do a letter paper to put in a letter book to help us learn our letters through the year. We will also talk about our senses, ending that lesson with a tasting party. PRE - K NEWS Our focus is kindergarten readiness so we jump right into school. We’ll have fun exploring bugs, bugs, bugs. Children seem fascinated with them at this age. Have fun catching some "specimens" for your child to bring in and share during the week designated as “Bugs”! We’ll start our letter books and continue them weekly all year. They are sent home at the end of the year, when our letters are all done! We will enjoy our first field trip this month to the Library. We are going to the Maring-Hunt Library so check the calendar to see what time your class should be there! We will meet AT the library and you stay with your child for the hour we are there! Directions to the Maring-Hunt Library are as follows: Go South on Walnut through town to 13th St. (Right after Memorial Dr.) Turn right and go straight until the library is on the left side (in the old Wilson Middle School). Hope you can plan on being there--it is a great place to explore! Our next field trip is to the Fort Wayne Zoo. Information on that is forthcoming. Our Bible lesson this month is about creation. The children enjoy a tasting party as we finish up a lesson on our senses. |
